It all started with, "Hey Dad can I make a race too?" What happened after that was brainstorming a race from a 7 year old's point of view.
Our one mile course takes kids through some of their favorite places in downtown Greensboro. Our little runners will make their way through Center City Park, the Cultural Arts Center, the Central Library, Children's Museum and Historical Museum. Along the way we'll have pint sized obstacles designed just for them.
The day will get kicked off with our 3-5th grade starting in heats of 100 kids, next will come our K-2nd grade heats of 50 and rounding out the day will be our pre-school runners making their way through an open course with the help of mom and dad at their own speed.
After the race, we'll have kiddos favorite foods, live music from Big, Bang, Boom, and info for mom and dad about some of the great summer options you have here in Greensboro for fun and adventure.
Each of our little runners will receive a race bib just like mom and dad would, a pint sized t-shirt just for them and a medal for completing their big adventure.
Lastly, the proceeds from the race will be used to support BackPack Beginnings and The Friends of Parks and Recreation Foundation. These 2 great causes work every day to impact the lives of our most vulnerable children across Greensboro and Guilford County.
